Royan - Fascinating city on the Gironde and french atlantic coast

Royan is a west French coastal town on the Gironde estuary (estuary) in the Atlantic. A splendid city in an environment with interesting historical and modern sights.

As early as the beginning of the twentieth century, the French pearl was developed for the emergence of tourism and is characterized by the multi-faceted coastal landscape on the Atlantic and its friendly, lifelike inhabitants.

The photos from the time before the German occupation never let a near-second World War begin.

The impressive work of a grandiose photographer from Bordeaux shows the charming beauty of a splendid French coastal town with its sights connected with the ease of being the French way of life.

    History of the photo album:

My grandfather as a twenty-two year old german soldier was stationed in France in the end of Second World War. There he met a french girl and they felt in love. She gave him this little photo album to say goodbye when his troops were moved back to defend germany. Even after war they tried to hold their friendship by writing love letters. But my grandmother found a letter at some point, and so there was a middle-heavy family crash. All wedding photos were turned over for months. My grandpa married my grandma right after the war. This is pure life. He wanted to keep something from his French love, and Grandma naturally fought against it. So he had to break off the contact with his French love, especially since my mother was born in 1947. Meanwhile the grandparents both died in 2001 and 2013, so I can allow myself to tell this family anecdote. It shows life as it is.

Here is the amazing french souvenir album which was made during war and shows how people keep on living a normal as possible life.

:) Sad and yet beautiful story, the whole sounds just like the movie thieves of the words. There was also an American soldier after the Second World War, I believe. In any case, he has also fallen in love with a French woman, and the contact is also broken. You have to watch the movie :)

I am overwhelmed by a mixed feeling of disbelief and joy. The photo could be made today! Just as if there was no war. Idyllic holidays on the beach - this looks timelessly beautiful. We humans are our own greatest enemy. The photographer was good. I would have liked to know his equipment. :)

Hope you take good care on the images, that they do not fade, etc, would be a pity!

    Zitat von Schimanski

Hope you take good care on the images, that they do not fade, etc, would be a pity!

The photos are really good. Looks absolutely like today.

Wherever the cities in Europe were not destroyed by the war, where there are still many beautiful old buildings and buildings, there is a soul that can be felt.

Other cities that were gray in gray in the 1960s and 1970s have no flair, no soul, no history.

Why do they still build sober concrete castles and unloved glass façades and steel structures?

A skyline of old churches, like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Kremlin in Moscow, Tower and Kensington in London, are a thousand times more beautiful than all modern, new-fashioned skyscrapers skylines. Please, construct again buildings like in the 17th century, 18th century and 19th century.

Why does not anyone build a cathedral anymore?

Donations could be collected and buildings built according to medieval architecture. Does the whole world have to be like the USA?

You all run someone behind, no matter he builds shit or something good.

    Grüße :herz:
